Major Components of IP Telephony System

0 165

IP Telephony systems are composed of these basic elements End devices, Gateways, and Gatekeepers. The components of an IP telephony system are as follows:

  1. Terminals
  2. User Gateway
  3. Gateway
  4. Gatekeeper

Terminals

Terminals are endpoints of communication, providing two-way real-time communication. The components of the terminals are as follows:

H.323: This part of the terminal has the function of supporting the voice of the process that is being carried out with the use of the terminal, also serves as a support for the video of an image and the transmitted data. This part of the terminal is mostly used for a video conference.

H.245: It is apart from the terminal that is used to negotiate the use of the channel and the capacities, it is also used for a video conference.

Q.931: Used for call signaling and configuration

RAS (Registration / Admission / Status): This is a protocol used to communicate with the gatekeeper which is another component of the IP-telephone

This component of IP telephony that has the function of performing the transmission process can find customers who want to use their conventional telephones and those that switch to integrated IP telephony with their Local Area Network (LAN). When a client wants to install an integrated IP telephony system and data service, the LAN is where the terminals are connected. The service of IP Telephony in Dubai can be offered without the need of one logical analog line that connects to the old FXS.

In the case of using the LAN, the terminals communicate in a bidirectional way in real time. In the case of using the old PBX, it is necessary to install a User Gateway, which serves as a component for translation.

User Gateway

The public telephony can be observed differences between a local operator and another one of long distance, in this case also the terminals act. But when we talk about IP-telephony system we take care of the local public application, and it is in this that is given more use of the terminals of the user.

Gateway

The gateway is a node in a computer network that serves as an access point to another network. It is also said to be a device dedicated to intercommunicate systems of all incompatible protocols (because its communication is one network to another)

Gatekeeper (GK)

This component performs the control for processing the call in H.323 protocol. It is a software that can work for example on Linux or another operating system. It is said to be a very important element of the H.323 network as well as also acts as the central point of all calls within an area and provide services to the registered terminals and call control. It acts as a virtual switch.

IP telephony does not work connected to a traditional telephone line, but only on an IP network, so you can receive and send both phone calls, instant messages, email, voice mail. Information about the caller and texts of received messages can be displayed on the screen.
